Introduction

Created in 1970 by the Strasbourg polymer physicist André Kovacs and the Parisian chemist Georges Champetier, the French Group for Polymer Studies and Applications (GFP) is a learned society that aims to promote macromolecular chemistry, polymer physics and polymer materials science in French higher education and research institutions, as well as within the industrial fabric. For more than fifty years, the GFP National Colloquium has been held every year at the end of November in a different French city. The GFP National Colloquium traditionally brings together 200 to 250 participants. Its programme covers all the different aspects of polymer science and applications. During the week, the GFP General Assembly is also held. In 2023, the South-Western section of the GFP, which is organising the 2023 National Colloquium in Bordeaux, has chosen to highlight the privileged interactions with the Spanish polymer community, particularly in the Basque Country, which is only 2 hours from Bordeaux.
